The conflict of the novel is person vs. nature, because its just them and the island, they live of fruits that they cut down from trees and pigs that they hunt.
The project contributes to the conflict, by saying how the boys are trying to survive in the island.
The boya are lighting fires so people can see them from far away and rescue them.
